This year‘s Nationalpark Bike Marathon was not just special since three of us started for the first time. No, a severe winterstorm caused an abort of the entire race. Alex was at the highest point (2700m) of the 104km race when a thunderstorm turned into snow and temperatures below 0 within minutes. Some 15 minutes later he stopped at a farm to warm up. At the same time Beatrice and Tim also biked into snow at a much lower elevation (1700m). They also were able to warm up at a stable. Well, this bike race will definitely stick in our minds. But we have decided to try again next year…
