Sat 31 Aug 2019: Solid race
After last year’s cancellation on the long original track, this year the weather was optimal. Alex 7h51m19s ride went solid, even though a personal best time was out of reach. After the first pass descent I had riding rendezvous with Daniel Steiger who waited for me passing the main road. We had a quick chat before I went back to the the slip stream of the racers in front of me.
Generally, I was slower in the uphills. In some of the downhills I was able to be faster. Moreover, my last quarter’s pace was better than last time; so my physical capabilities were quite good. But I felt really empty right after the race, even though I am never able to eat shortly after the physical stress; I usually drink quite a bit, but eating only starts one hour after the finish.
Beatrice (again) could not start as she hurt her knee days before while mountain biking…
Alex - Vallader 137km, 4000m elevation: 7.51:19, ranked 27 of 173 riders; ranked total 187 in 504 riders (including the pros).
